My first hand-made jewelry

I saw these yellow glass beads at Walmart while shopping for groceries, and thought I would try to make my very own necklace. I bought three sets and payed $4 for each. It wasn’t as easy to make it as I envisioned, but it was a good experience. How do you like it? Be gentle with your comments please 🙂

Have a good day!

Black and brown…

I find the combination of these two colors a little controversial. Some people like it, some find it completely unacceptable. Many years ago, I didn’t think it was a good combination either, but now I believe it’s all about how you wear it and accessorize it.

Black and dark brown don’t have much contrast, and may look boring in an outfit if you don’t consider adding the third accent color. Blue, orange or yellow accessories will brighten the outfit making it more interesting and well put together.

The combination of black and light brown colors (like in the picture below) have a little more contrast, so you can get away with just wearing the two colors. I could’ve added more gold or brown accessories, but have decided to go with a more casual and simple look.

 Getting ready for my next post with the jewelry I made yesterday for the first time! Come back to see it…:-)

Maxi Dress

Maxi dress was a big trend for Spring 2012, and it still remains very popular this summer and fall. It is fun to wear if you consider a few important tips.

Avoid:

– too many layers;

– too much jewelry (keep the dress the focal piece in the outfitIf, as it should be);

– closed toe shoes;

Consider:

– high-heeled sandals or flat sandals;

– leather tote or cross body handbag;

– denim jacket or simple cardigan;

– necklace and/or bracelets.

If you are tall, consider wearing maxi dress with flat sandals, gladiator sandals or even flip flops. Heavy ladies should consider loose maxi dresses and dresses with ruffles, and if you are petite, do the opposite. Wear maxi dresses that hug your figure and don’t have too many ruffles. Add high-heeled sandals to make you look taller and curvy.

Anyone should consider empire waist maxi dresses, they look flattering on most people. A leather tote and denim jacket will transform the outfit into a fashion statement!

1. Jacket GAP, 2. Shoes Indigo by Clarks Sky Reno, 3. Bracelets Boston Proper, 4. Handbag Lodis, 5. Dress Bluefly

Enjoy!

Black and Red

Two strong contrasting colors black and red, oversized bag with heavy pockets and soft belt with flowers, warm jacket and light fabric dress! We can do it, why not! 🙂

Greek salad recipe my way

I grew up eating Greek salad if not every day, than once per week for sure. So, I never knew that “Cucumber and tomato salad”, that’s what we used to call it, is actually called a Greek salad. To me it was just a salad that goes with any dish, anything you eat, and the more vegetables the better.

The only difference between Greek and “Cucumber and tomato salad” is the dressing. Unlike Greek salad, I use sunflower oil with a little salt to finish “my” salad with, and I will tell you why…When I was a child, back in Moldova, every time I came to my grandma’s house, she had something very tasty to eat. ..and boy, it was good! She always cooked her dishes with sunflower oil and plenty of onion. Sunflower oil, just like olive oil, has its very own taste…and I love the taste of it, because it reminds me of my childhood, and the best grandma in the world…my grandma!

 Greek salad

  • 1 cucumber
    2 medium tomatoes
    ½ cup of pitted Kalamata Olives
    ½ cup of feta cheese, crumbled
    1/2 onion
    1/2 bell pepper
  • ¼ cup of green onion
  • For dressing: 1 tbsp of sunflower oil
  • Salt to taste
  1. Chop tomatoes, cucumber, bell pepper, onion and green onion and combine in a large bowl with Kalamata olives and crumbled feta cheese.
  2. Pour sunflower oil, and add salt to taste.

Tip: I always put chopped tomatoes in a bowl first, salt and toss them and let them sit for a few minutes. Salty tomatoes give a nice juice that I love to dip my bread in after the salad is gone.

Bon appetite!

Love these shoes…

I was brousing online for some pretty elegant shoes, and this pair caught my eye. I love the tan and black color combination, pointed toe, and the charming bow accent here. The heel is a slightly higher than I would like, it is 3 34 in tall. However, I could already invision myself wearing them with jeans, tan shirt, dark brown clutch and a light brown scarf or a pretty accent bow in my hair…The contrast and the bow is what I especially love about these shoes, and the most dissapointing part is that the color combination is not available at the moment and they don’t have my size either…Just wanted to share with all of you my little find and why it caught my eyes.

Will be searching for more elegant shoes, the winner is somewhere out there. Stay tuned for a mint outfit tonight…

Another healthy protein snack

Here is a snack I made before lunch. It’s healthy and filled with proteins…eggs (1 hard-boiled egg has 6g of proteins), avocado (1 avocado has 3g of proteins and is high in fiber), tomato (1 tomato has just 1g of protein, but it is a good source of vitamins C, A, and K), and green leaf letuce filled with vitamin A.

Bon appetite!
